If you have played Stratomatic online you know that it’s not always easy to have a winning season or even become a World Champion. Even though you can’t always win, one of the fun factors is following some of the great individual player performances. In this post, I’ll share a list of some of the best player performances I have experienced.
2001: Dave Williams 18-3 3.95 1.31 – This team won 109 games! Pedro Martinez’s went 22-5 but his 2001 card always played out well. Dave William’s 18-3 record stood out. Victor Santos card, considered to be one of the best bargains in 2001, went 15-6.
Rich Aurilia (41 HR 138 RBI .333 AVG) had 714 At Bats! I put him 2nd in the batting order in front of Barry Bonds just like the Giants did that season.
2002: Barry Bonds 58 HR 146 RBI .344 AVG – At 17.38M this might have been the highest priced card I have ever owned. Of course, anyone who had this card had good results but these stats were still pretty good in a pitcher’s park.
2003: Pedro Feliz 53 HR 131 RBI – Pedro Feliz was considered a bargain in 2003 so these results aren’t too surprising but it’s still an eye catcher – even for a pitcher’s park. Other than Bond’s 2002 58 HR performance, this has to be the 2nd highest HR output I have ever had from a player.
2004: Horacio Ramirez 17-2 – This was an impressive winning record for a pitcher with a 3.17M salary. I did sit Ramirez a few times to avoid some bad matchups so I didn’t give him the opportunity to win 20 games.
The Fabulous Twirlybirds had three 1’s in the infield and some very strong arms (-5, -3, -3) in the outfield. I doubt I have ever had a team with three impressive outfield arms like this.
2006: Chris Carpenter 25-5 – Randy Johnson in 2004 was 26-7 but his salary was also 11.90M. Chris Carpenter’s 25-5 performance ranks up there as one of the best especially for a pitcher’s salary under 7M.
Brian Fuentes (47 saves) was one of my favorite closers in 2006 especially for a pitcher’s park
Check out Jim Edmonds numbers ( 27 HR, .286 AVG) for 3.91M.
Brendan Harris card was one of the best .50M cards in the set.
