New way to read Stratomatic cards

April 9, 2009

Update: In the Strat-O-Matic Card Chances 2008 cardset I have added support for the ATG4 cardset so now it works with 2008 and ATG4.

Update 2: The Strat-O-Matic Card Chances 80s cardset now works with the 70s cardset.

I have released two new Greasemonkey scripts for Sporting News Stratomatic Online:

Strat-O-Matic Card Chances 2008/ATG4 cardset
Strat-O-Matic Card Chances 80s cardset

These scripts will parse a player’s card and then show an output of the chances a player has on getting on base, hitting a home run, etc. The results also take ballparks effects into consideration. You can also change the default ballpark.

Everyday, these scripts really come in handy for me. Instead of relying on the Ratings Disk or the Player probability tool in the Stratomatic CD-Rom game I have all of the information right there on the same player card page. There’s no need trying to count the how many ballpark diamonds a player has or figuring out the clutch rating. Also, the pitcher cards even have Best Results calculated for you. I hope you enjoy!

To my knowledge the results are 100% accurate. Please let me know if you find any mistakes in the calculations.

For some reason there’s an HTML layout difference between Firefox 2.x and 3.x so I have designed these scripts to work in Firefox 3.x.

Could you do this for ATG4?

Bill 06.25.09 at 10:29 pm

Ian: The Strat-O-Matic Card Chances 2008 cardset now works with ATG4.

Ian 06.26.09 at 7:08 pm

I was referring to the ballparks in ATG4 not the 2008 set.

Bill 06.27.09 at 11:50 am

Yes I added the ATG4 ballparks. It seems to be working correctly. When I pull up an ATG4 card, the default ballpark is Baker Bowl ‘11.

Ian 06.27.09 at 1:29 pm

Thanks, but I downloaded the script and I clicked on an ATG4 card and it still shows only the 2008 ballparks not the ATG4 ballparks.

Bill 06.27.09 at 1:52 pm

It might not be working because I changed the name of the script. So, now there’s probably the old version and the new version installed and the old version is taking precedence. Try uninstalling the script named ‘Strat-O-Matic Card Chances 2008 cardset’.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Great script. I used it in my ’80s league all season. I’ve joined a ’70s league. Is there a script for tracking that breaks down the cards in the ’70s game? I don’t have the CD ROM, so without the script I’m crunching all the numbers by hand. Help!

I updated the 80’s script so it also works with 70s cardset. Let me know if it doesn’t work for you.

Bill: Great script. I used it all season long in the ’80s mystery card game and it saved me from doing a ton of number crunching. It also was a HUGE help in deciding which players to use in various ballparks. My newly formed ’70s league starts play in 5 days, so the timing on updating the script to use with the ’70s game could not have been better for me! Fine work! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! – Bernie Ward

P.S.: Now if only you could update the rest of your scripts to apply to the ’70s game, especially the mystery card tracker, I’d be set. It would be such a help to so many players.

Terrific script!

What does “Best Results” refer to at he bottom of the pitcher’s data?

Thank you,

Artie

This is a really cool script. I’ve just gotten into SOM online and right now I’m only playing in the $12.50 leagues (2003 to be exact). I’m guessing it won’t work on 2003 cards?

If it’s not too much to ask, but could you post how to read each category because I’m having trouble what’s better in terms of “Best Results” and “Outs” and so on.

Love your script! Looking forward to /NEED the new 2009 season update! :)
